Residency Program
When function meets art
Luminaire Authentik offers all artists in Montreal and the surrounding area the opportunity to apply for the next call for applications for the third edition of its creation residency. The selected artist will have the LA fabrication workshop and the material library at their entire disposal. Meetings will be planned in a sharing spirit with the Luminaire Authentik team in order to promote the collaborative aspect and the technical feasibility of the artistic project. The residency culminates with an exhibition of a collection of exclusive lamps, where the public and collectors will have the opportunity to purchase the works
This residency allowed Boyan and Luminaire Authentik’s artisans to merge traditional artistry with contemporary design, resulting in a timeless and unique collection that stands as a tribute to classical architecture and the enduring beauty of craftsmanship.
Central to each design is a hand-sculpted knob, a defining feature of Boyan’s work that enhances the organic quality of the collection’s forms. Sculpted entirely by hand from stoneware clay, each piece undergoes an oxidation firing process and is finished with hand-brushed glaze strokes.
See CollectionSessilia is the name given to the collection of the second edition of the artistic residency by Luminaire Authentik in collaboration with ceramic artist Édith Sévigny-Martel.
A set of 9 unique lights entirely handmade by Édith in her Montreal studio.
The collection is inspired by sea creatures that predated humans by many centuries. Barnacles tend to live in shallow waters and tidal areas. In their final form, their exterior becomes a shell, protecting the soft interior which is very much alive.
See CollectionUnpolished materials, no preliminary sketches. Only the artistic instinct of sculptor Jeremy Le Chatelier harnessed by the technical skills of Maude Rondeau, founder of Luminaire Authentik.
While the minimalist Scandinavian features soften the raw essence of the lights, the Solstice collection embraces the imperfect nature of the materials for a product designed with legitimate freedom of movement and an eye for detail.
